New Workout -- One on One with Tony

When Jon Congdon and I went through the Power 90 program for the first time, we had the luxury of doing many of the workouts with Tony in his home gym. In general, Tony is who Tony is. What you see in P90X and P90X+ is the way he is in person. Although, when he's working out at home, there's something a little more intense, a little funnier, and A LOT more unpredictable.

That's why this Spring we did an experiment: What if instead of planning an entire system or routines, we simply sent Mason (director from P90X) with a camcorder to follow Tony as he does his own daily regimen?

We appropriately call these workouts Tony Horton's "One on One". It's just Tony and you working out. No fanciness, except for the soundtrack by Jason Scheff. There's less cueing because Tony is doing the entire workout, every rep. It's real Tony, doing what it takes to get (and stay) absolutely ripped.

The first release of this new series is a plyometrics-legs routine which includes using a medicine ball. I've got two words for you: "Dig. Deeper."

This one should come out in June. We'll releasing a new 1-on-1 video each month. You can get each DVD as soon as they are released by subscribing to the series and you'll also get a DVD wallet which will hold a year's worth, or you can buy them as "back issues" one at a time.

I've seen the first bunch, and they are every bit as entertaining as they are great workouts.

Better Than A New Car!

Stephanie's experience buying a new car is the "Oooh La La" of being persistent with your home based business. But we all know that for some people, they are not going to approach it in a way where they earn a second income. Some aren't going to earn any income for that matter. Many coaches do it because being a coach helps them stay accountable to their own fitness goals, and it just feels good to help people.

One such coach, Alan Cottrell, started his own WOWY group filled with family, friends and neighbors. He has earned just $177 over the past year. But he's in it for the health benefits he gets and the good feeling of helping people.

My sister Robin makes a hundred dollars here and there as a coach, but is not into recruiting coaches. She has told me she does it just to be part of a healthy group of people, that it keeps her motivated.

I've also gotten to know a coach through MySpace named Angie Cyr. She wrote me the other day and described all the stuff going on her life, which any of us would find it hard to get through, much less also stay focused on fitness and coaching. She has her reasons, as she writes:

Carl -- People always ask me why I've got such a great attitude when so much “stuff” is going on in my life. (My mom and dad live with me and they are sick; Mom physically - a lot - and Dad mentally - getting worse by the minute; My youngest son has had some sort of ailment for the last 5 years that gets him violently ill throughout the year; 5 of those times ending up in the hospital and 2 of those hospital visits have been in the ICU.)

So how am I able to deal with all of this and still be a Beachbody coach while not going insane? Easy: Beachbody has given me the tools I need to keep the stress level down. If it were not for my Beachbody friends, exercise and healthy eating, being a Beachbody coach and helping others with their issues, I would be a basket case.

As a coach, helping others helps keep me from focusing just on my problems. I love being a coach because not only do I get to help others, but I help myself as well. The stress is still there in my life, but thanks to Beachbody I can handle the stress. (Oh, by the way, I also just started a health and fitness ministry at church!)

PS: BTW, I first became a coach in order to get a discount on the products I love. (I have EVERY DARN WORKOUT IN THE BEACHBODY STORE!) But I became an Emerald after my success story aired (I was a Sept. 2007 $1,000 winner in the monthly contest) and people started emailing me to tell me what an inspiration I was.

I realized I could really make a difference in someone's life and that excited me. I love getting those touching emails!

PSS: I also head up a message board called Get Ready For Summer Challenge. There are a couple of rules and one of them is they must contact their coach once a week!

A New Car!

Sometimes I forget that the coaching opportunity isn't just about helping people improve their health, it can also change lives in ways we never really envisioned.

Below is a note I got from Stephanie, one of our top coaches and a true Beachbody success story:

Carl, Thank you!

Seriously - I wanted to thank you for the best opportunity EVER. Let me go back a little bit: Sam & I have an old mini-van, very beat up (dented in back door, hanging reverse light, driver's side window doesn't work, panel in the passenger side door is gone and that's only the beginning).

Well we prayed last year that our poor ol' van would last one more year until our coaching business would take off, then this year we just didn't want to spend the money, we wanted to save it so we prayed for yet another year on the van. Well last week the "check engine" light came on & it's making weird noises (this van is 13 years old) so we got a little concerned.

I looked at Sam and said "let's go look at how much a new van costs then see if we can afford to just buy one."

We went this morning and walked away with a brand new 2008 mini-van. I was in tears - I've NEVER had a new car - NEVER! Thanks to this
opportunity - to Team BeachBody - I got a new car! Brand new baby! I just had to share that with you - I don't have to words to express how thankful I am for this opportunity to help others find health - find fun IN health - and to get paid for it. It's insane and I love it. There is no job better than being a Team BeachBody coach.

Thank you AGAIN - a million times over!

Stephanie (aka stufawen)

ps: we even got a few car salesmen interested in being coaches as well - rock on!!!

Helping people improve their lives, in exchange for them helping people succeed.. THAT'S a business!

The Power of a Success Link

There's a new concept that's become all the rage at Beachbody which was developed in our network marketing think-tank on the 7th floor: The "Success Link"

As you know, I got to hang out with our seventeen 2007 Top Coaches and runners-up in Hawaii a few weeks ago. It was a blast, and it only made us all look forward to topping it in Mexico next year. From what I hear, that's what the Coach goal is: "Get to Mexico," and that objective is now tied to creating Success Links.

This Top Coach contest is geared to keep the business opportunity on point: Helping people get accountable to their healthy lifestyle more than simply recruiting new coaches. In this case, helping people get accountable means, helping someone you coach create at least one "active" coach to whom they are accountable. You - to them - to their downline... Three "active status" coaches in a row, equals one "Success Link".

The premise here is that, in order to help people succeed with their decision to become a coach and live a healthy active lifestyle, they need to be accountable to more than just their upline coach. They need to be accountable to someone downline, to whom they said "I am going to get serious about fitness and nutrition, and I will do this with you."

The upside to the coach is, the more success links you have, the more accountable YOU are to stay with your program, and in turn, the more people you are helping. It's not so easy to quit when you tell someone you are in it for the long haul. THAT'S accountability to a healthy lifestyle! That's the point of a Success Link.

Each month we will take a snap shot of how many new Success Links were created. There will be as many as 20 winners each month, with cash prizes ranging from $100 to $2,000, and the leader will be named Top Coach. All Top Coaches from April through December will be invited to join us for the fiesta-filled event in Mexico! Each Top Coach will be featured in a video segment on the Team Beachbody™ Web site and headlined in Momentum, the monthly Coach newsletter.

The contest officially kicked off on March 31st. At the end of each business week, the system counts the number of active Success Links you have for that week. If the number is 8 or greater, you will be recognized for the club level that you have achieved:

8 active links = Bronze
12 active links = Silver
20 active links = Gold
30 active links = Executive

Recognition as you climb through the ranks includes a special “Success Link Club” pin and your name posted in the “Success Link Club” area of Coach’s Corner.

Any coach you have personally sponsored (ever since you joined the business) will be counted as an active success link so long as they are active with 50PV and they have a personally sponsored coach who is active with 50PV.

Special note- a personally sponsored coach can only be counted as one active link even if they have more than one active personally sponsored coach.

Example- Carl sponsors Kevin who is active and Kevin sponsors Michael, Jim and Jason all active with 50PV. Kevin will count as one active link for Carl even though he has three personally sponsored coaches who are active. Kevin has the potential for three active links because he has three personally sponsored coaches. (Nice work Kevin!)

We have developed a weekly report that will be sent to each coach telling how many active success links they had at the start of the contest period and how many active links they have at the end of each commission period. This will allow you to track your increase and compare that to the top 20 list that will be posted in Coach’s Corner each week.

I almost forgot the big money: There will also be the Top Coach of the year who wins a $10,000 prize. And two other half-year awards of $5,000 for the most Success Links measured two times during the year. Also, you can earn cash rewards in multiple months if you repeatedly rank in the top 20. Part of the contest also includes "Elite Points", which I will describe in a future post, but you can get the contest rules in Coaches Corner.

The bottom line is, the more Success Links you get, the more people you help to get active and healthy. And the more people you help get active and healthy, the more you deserve to hang with the other Top Coaches in Mexico. As the network of coaches expands, THAT'S the activity we want to reward, and we're putting our money where that kind of healthy success happens!
