Yesterday the world joined hands and globally celebrated the fiftieth birthday of uber-trainer to the stars, Mr. Tony Horton. And yet he is the one who gave us a gift:
The release of "One on One workouts" with Tony Horton.
If you want to see Tony at his best, most intense, and least scripted, you've got to subscribe to the One-on-One workouts.
What happens is, every so often Tony calls up his buddy Mason Bendewald (director of P90X, etc.) and says "Mace, I just got a bunch of new rock and roll from Jason*, and I came up with a killer routine. Get your butt over here and let's shoot it."
Mason walks in, rolls camera, and Tony goes into "Bring It" mode, one-on-one style. It's intense, with a new one released each month.
If you're a member of TeamBeachbody.com, subscribe online asap so you make sure to get the very first workout, Plyo Legs. (non-members can purchase here... but why wouldn't you want to be a member of the coolest fitness community on the planet?)
And for all 5 people who read this blog, here is the first ever sneak peak at the next routine just created to ship for month two (August). They're all going to be classics!
Who says you can't push the boundaries? Honestly... this job is getting more fun by the week!

New Workout -- One on One with Tony
When Jon Congdon and I went through the Power 90 program for the first time, we had the luxury of doing many of the workouts with Tony in his home gym. In general, Tony is who Tony is. What you see in P90X and P90X+ is the way he is in person. Although, when he's working out at home, there's something a little more intense, a little funnier, and A LOT more unpredictable.
That's why this Spring we did an experiment: What if instead of planning an entire system or routines, we simply sent Mason (director from P90X) with a camcorder to follow Tony as he does his own daily regimen?
We appropriately call these workouts Tony Horton's "One on One". It's just Tony and you working out. No fanciness, except for the soundtrack by Jason Scheff. There's less cueing because Tony is doing the entire workout, every rep. It's real Tony, doing what it takes to get (and stay) absolutely ripped.
The first release of this new series is a plyometrics-legs routine which includes using a medicine ball. I've got two words for you: "Dig. Deeper."
This one should come out in June. We'll releasing a new 1-on-1 video each month. You can get each DVD as soon as they are released by subscribing to the series and you'll also get a DVD wallet which will hold a year's worth, or you can buy them as "back issues" one at a time.
I've seen the first bunch, and they are every bit as entertaining as they are great workouts.

Where's Señor?
Now that P90X is once again attracting thousands of customers a week into the world of extreme home fitness gone wild (No complaints here -- we just never expected there to be this kind of ongoing demand of a program this intense) I thinks it's time to let you in on a little secret... The secret of Señor Mysterioso.
Ned Farr is the filmmaker who crafted the look and feel of P90X and covered the "making of" for two years. His infomercial is redefining the art form.

His infomercial is redefining the art form. One day a few years ago we threw a birthday party for Ned at my house. One of the gifts was an "action figure" who kinda looks like a four inch version of musician Leon Redbone. His name, Señor Mysterioso.
When we got to shooting the P90X videos, the fascination with Señor only grew... to obsession.
As you follow P90X, faithfully bringing it with passion and enthusiasm, keep an eye out. Señor Mysterioso is somewhere different on set in every video. (On one though he is there, but not visible. Oh yes, he is so mysterioso. You can guess where he is if you like.)
Interestingly, others around the globe have had their own encounters with Señor.

"Daddy, where do extreme workout videos come from?"
Now that people are seeing P90X on TV and featured in MDB Winners segments, people are starting to recognize that P90X is unlike any DVD workout series ever created. Which means, it's even more meaningful to share the evolution of the program now than it was when we started.

The production department is digitizing and uploading the "Making Of P90X" videos which were created by award winning filmmaker Ned Farr. Ned followed us into all meetings, through production and design, and then assembled the hours of reality footage into an amazing series that show just how complex and challenging the development process can be. He then built them into the most compelling and unique infomercial ever created. Thanks to Ned's focus, P90X redefined the infomercial.
When a group of creative people are all determined to make spectacular videos, supplements, a very effective diet guide, and a game-changing infomercial, there will be fireworks.
Chapter One "Guys in Blue Shirts" went up on YouTube last night, and while the compression quality needs to be refined, it's still fun to travel back in time to the very first conversation we ever had with Tony Horton about the product. I think you'll enjoy it!
