P90X, Now in Plus Sizes!

P90X+ is now available to everyone! (Oh yes, it is so sweet.)

The reviews we've heard from Million Dollar Body coaches who have had a couple weeks to play with the Plus are shocking and revealing:

"Are you kidding me?"

"Please, make it stop."

"Thanks to Tony, now I can chew nails!"

And my favorite... "Before P90X+ I didn't even know I had that muscle... Now I have two!"

The Beachbody crew has posted downloadable workout sheets for P90X and for P90X+ so you can bring it, recover, and bring it again!

Let's Meet in Vegas!

In case you are in Las Vegas next week, our coaches there have put together an event to kick off 2008 and you are invited.

Just before the event I hope I get to meet some of the people who I have only gotten to email with so far. When we get started I want to speak about what's coming up in 2008. This is an important meeting because we're already building momentum for what we hope will be a major year to change how people approach health and wellness!

Everyone is invited, coaches prospects and friends.

Snoozebusters - unite!

There's a new workout group in WOWY thanks to the suggestion of coach Anne Dovel: The Snoozebusters!

If the most common reflex when you hear that alarm first thing in the morning is a series of snoozes that chip right through your workout, you are not alone. In fact, that very habit of mine was one of the main motivations behind creating WOWY. Knowing that there is someone expecting you to be logged in for your workout at 6AM is an edge over the inclination to blow it off.

I know many people are starting 2008 with a renewed commitment to get their workout done early in the day. And it's got to be fun knowing that with every workout, you might have scored $1,000! Want the money? You gotta earn it baby!

No doubt the days you feel the best are those you get your workout done! So join me in the Snoozebusters group, and let's wake up and make it count!

Childhood Obesity is a Choice

I'm sure you're aware that childhood obesity is a real problem. According to the Mayo Clinic, over 25 million kids are overweight or in danger of becoming obese. And overweight children are at higher risk of developing: Type 2 diabetes, Metabolic syndrome, High blood pressure, Asthma and other respiratory problems, sleep disorders, liver disease, early puberty or menarche, eating disorders, skin infections and more.

When you think about it, it's a choice. Aren't kids are supposed to be out playing? And we as parents are supposed to be monitoring what they eat, whether it's at home or at school. But so many kids are TV addicts and so many parents don't have a clue how to eat for themselves, much less guide their kids' habits. And the proliferation of awful foods and sodas in school vending machines doesn't make it any easier. So what matters is how we make choices for our kids, and how we teach our kids to make choices.

Beachbody is getting more and more involved, mostly through the efforts of our MDB coaches who are taking matters into their own hands.

We've marketed Tony and The Kids for years, and now we're adding a title to the cause this January which will be fun step in the right direction:

Shaun T has a new workout coming in late January; Shaun T's Fit Kids Club, which includes two 25-minute workouts on one DVD with a fun wall poster that shows healthy snack tips and a kids-guide for reading nutrition labels. I think it will appeal to kids form age 5 to 14.

The release date is mid-January for MDB coaches and late January for everyone else.

If you have a kid in grade school, you know how frustrated teachers get at recess time on rainy days. I'm giving a copy of the DVD to my daughter's school and giving the poster to her classroom so they have some additional healthy messaging around them at snack time.

Of course when it comes to fighting childhood obesity, I think the most compelling strategy is to get parents active and eating right. Show them how you're making smart choices. Kids learn choices from their parents. When kids see their parents working out, they see that it's an important part of their lifestyle. It might not happen right now, but at some point, that child will "get it" and remember how it's done because they saw mom and dad choosing health. "Hey mom, where's that Shaun T DVD?"

Same goes for eating. Teaching kids healthy food choices is not nearly as compelling as serving them the right portion size and food options. You learn what you eat.

The best of all this is the upside: Kids who are active and eating well have a real chance of avoiding the harsh trends of obesity-linked diseases. And healthy kids make healthy grand kids. It's time for us to help them learn the importance of this lifestyle, by example, and by guiding their choices.

Call Us Gang Green

"Go Green" is the motto at Beachbody and Million Dollar Body parent, Product Partners. This year we decided that we would focus on making sure that our activity as a company and as individuals does not "take" from our host (Planet Earth), but instead contributes to it's ability to sustain life.

It's a pretty incredible thing, when you think about it... that this planet has everything we need to live. Our job as guests is to make sure we don't kill it in the process. But in general, mankind has managed to expand and use up resources at such a rate and in such a way that we're actually making it LESS inhabitable.

Well, just like Product Partners creates products and services that help people achieve their goals to lead a healthy fulfilling life, now we're making sure that our activity as such supports that in every way. We have hired a great guy named Rob Kramer to work with us to help transform the company into an eco-conscious, sustainable (meaning - all our efforts contribute to the planet's livability, rather than undermine it), "green" company that collectively reduces its impact on our environment and our health.

Jon Congdon and my desire for making Product Products green is significant and personal. We like to do stuff outside, in the actual sun. We like to enjoy the water. We like to breathe. We like to drink water and eat food that doesn't poison us. We like animals. We like toys without lead in them. We like the way the "unknowable genius" behind the ecosystem works. Together, we will take the Core Values of Product Partners and apply them to creating sustainable practices, purchases, products, packages and resources throughout the company.

Whether it's converting all paper products to 100% recycled materials, reducing energy consumption through new systems, materials or procedures, or transforming product packaging into the first environmentally-sustainable DVD products in the health and fitness market, we have an enormous opportunity and responsibility to TAKE ACTION RIGHT NOW. The investment will be real, and real significant.

To that end, I appreciate your willingness and support in working with Rob and the rest of the Product Partners staff to turn the company into THE most sustainable, eco-conscious company in our industry, if not ALL industry. (Step away from the copy machine!)

One of the ways we started was to improve our recycling habits. Another way was to replace the holiday card mailing with an eCard. And to everyone who sends us the traditional bottle of holiday wine as a gift, we have asked that in lieu of gifts that they dedicate a tree or a grove of trees to the spirit of the holidays at Tree People.

Even my seven year old daughter Ava got into the act. When I described to her what we were doing, and how important it is for us to conserve energy and reduce pollution, she came up with the idea of asking Santa not to waste paper wrapping our gifts, and instead to use gift bags that we would leave next to the cookies. (I apologize if Santa is late to your house, since he'll need to stop to stuff gifts into bags ant my house... but hey - it's for the environment!)

You can do a lot too. From time to time I'll be posting Rob's suggestion's on this blog, including these tips he published to our company this week:

Tip 1: Buy LED Holiday Lights. These use 90% less energy, have a 50,000-hour bulb life that's 40 times longer than regular bulbs.

Tip 2: Use Biodegradable Bags for your trash, such as biobags. Purchase at Eco-Products.

Tip 3: Use Compostable Plates/Utensils for your holiday party. Purchase at Eco-Products.

Tip 4: Use Soy or Beeswax-based Candles for your celebration, rather than paraffin wax candles, which require fossil fuels in their production and often have lead in the wick. (Plus - when you burn paraffin candles, it's like a Mac truck is running it's fumes throughout your home... "deck the halls with CO2 emissions!" Purchase at FindSoyCandles.

Tip 5: Wrap Gifts in eco-friendly ways such as using reusable fabric, using recycled wrapping paper, or reusing magazines, paper, and bags to make your own wrapping.

Tip 6: Give Eco-Friendly Gifts and fair trade handicrafts that support good cause. Purchase at Eco Friendly Gifts or The Y Catalog.

Tip 7: Make Plenty (HEALTHY) of Food and fill up your freezer with the leftovers, as a full freezer requires less energy than a partially full freezer.

Tip 8: Use Eco-Friendly Green Cleaning Products after your party. Purchase at Eco-Products.

Tip 9: Serve Organic fair trade coffee to your guests.

Tip 10: Carpool to events and parties.

Tip 11: Recycle. The Product Partners recycling bins have arrived. Please get in the habit of using them to recycle paper, glass, cans, ink cartridges, etc.

Tip 12: Buy Organic Meat for your holiday cooking (OR) Eat Lower on the Food Chain and Cook Vegetarian. A vegetarian and organic diet requires thousands of gallons of less water, and no harmful pesticides and chemicals in the soil.

Tip 13: Shop at the Local Farmer's Market for your holiday cooking needs, and bring your own bags. The less far a product travels to get to you, the less fuel was consumed to satisfy that demand.

Tip 14: For Cards, Invitations, etc., choose alternatives to virgin tree fiber paper such as recycled paper or hemp paper. Purchase at Green Field Paper. Of course, the best invite is an Email Invite or Evite.

Tip 15: Use Recycled Objects to make crafts and ornaments with your children.

Tip 16: Ask for Eco-Gifts that will help you lead a more healthy and eco-friendly life.

Tip 17: Choose Less Consumption and more giving this holiday season. Do a Community Service Project.

Please note that these are just suggested options and stores—we are not in any way affiliated with or officially endorsing any of these options.

Find Out What Million Dollar Body Is All About

There's a "Webinar" Tuesday night at 9PM ET/6PM PT in case you're wondering what this Million Dollar Body thing is about - or in case you are already involved and want to invite some people to get involved.

(Kevin's going to let me speak, which can be dangerous.)

We launched Million Dollar Body this year to turn the fitness model upside down, and for once reward those who are actually doing both the hard work of working out and who are supporting others to live a healthier lifestyle.

We have over 3,500 coaches signed up already. But i suspect this concept is going to blow up - big time - after the first of the year, when the entire world decides it's time to get back into shape. This year, we want the world to choose the one resource where results REALLY happen.

That's your opportunity. Someone is going to try and make money selling more gimmicks and junk to people you know. Or instead, you and your friends can point them to the real deal, MDB - where people get real results - and you will be rewarded for it.

If you are interested in learning what Million Dollar Body is about, and how it can help you stay motivated to get into the best shape of your life (and earn money at the same time), join us for a webinar Tuesday at 9PM ET/6PM PT.

1. Go to this site on your computer: https://www1.gotomeeting.com/register/976825080

2. And call this conference number: (605) 772-3434, access code 249-091-894

Fish Oil Burns Fat?

Take your supplements and eat your fish. Not only is it good for managing your cholesterol levels, improving your memory, making your skin look better, and reducing aches and pains, but now they say fish oils burn fat!

Beachbody and Million Dollar Body customers will appreciate that research is showing that fish oils enhance fat oxidation in overweight people when taken in conjunction with exercise! A study done out of Australia has shown significant reduction in percentage of body fat when combining exercise with fish oil supplementation. The improvement appeared to reflect enhanced fat oxidation during exercise specifically. (Check it out here: Fish oil along with exercise improved fat loss, better than either alone.)

Just like the Beachbody synergistic approach of portion control, plus cardiovascular & resistance training is OPTIMAL for those that are SERIOUS about fat loss, so is proper supplementation.

Personally, I take fish oil twice a day for the health benefits. However, now that we are learning that fish oils provide so much "bang for your buck", EVERYONE has a reason to be taking a good quality fish oil! And that's exactly why we believe a good Omega-3 is an important part of your "core nutrition", and why it is available to all our coaches and customers.

We didn't cut any corners with this product... Beachbody's Core Omega-3 comes from wild Atlantic cold water fish sources, and is absolutely guaranteed to be free of harmful PCBs and heavy metal contaminants typically found in supplements available in grocery stores. Our soft gel capsules use an advanced delivery system that releases in the intestines, not in the stomach. That means no stomach upset, and no unpleasant aftertaste.

I don't talk about supplements a lot in my blog, because I think sometimes people can over do it. But if you want to know what I take, Omega 3 has got to be on your daily list if you really are taking care of your health!

The "Opportunity" Cities

Here's the dubious list of the most obese cities in America, as posted on Forbes.com:

1. Memphis, Tenn.: 34%
2. Birmingham, Ala.: 31.3%
3. San Antonio, Texas: 31.1%
4. Riverside/San Bernardino, Calif.: 30.8%
5. Detroit: 30.4%
6. Jacksonville, Fla.: 29.8%
7. Nashville, Tenn.: 28.8%
8. Oklahoma City: 27.5%
9. Kansas City, Mo.: 26.9%
10. San Diego, Calif.: 26.7%
11. Cincinnati, Ohio: 26.3%
12. Indianapolis: 26%
13. (Tie) Baltimore: 25.8%
13. (Tie) New Orleans: 25.8%
13. (Tie) Virginia Beach, Va.: 25.8%
16. Atlanta: 25.6%
17. (Tie) Milwaukee: 25.4%
17. (Tie) Richmond, Va.: 25.4%
18. (Tie) Austin, Texas: 24.9%
18. (Tie) Las Vegas, NV: 24.9%

That's the level of obesity. You know just outside of that clinical statistic is a population who are not pleased with their health and fitness. This opportunity is enormous. People need what we have created!

And the most amazing thing to me is, our Million Dollar Body business is growing the FASTEST in the number 18 city, Las Vegas! If that continues, I would not be surprised that Las Vegas could be on the other side of the spectrum next year, as one of the fittest cities in the US... (Now there's a goal Coach Couch!)

For anyone wondering if there's a real opportunity at Million Dollar Body, the percentages of obese people within these populations are proof enough. People NEED the effective, sensible approach to fitness, portion control, and peer support that is ONLY available at Million Dollar Body!

We're getting closer by the week... P90X+ is in the final push to DVD replication.

Get In The Corner

Tony's corner inside the Million Dollar Body Club now has a new look and "extreme" feel, fitting the demand from our P90X customers.

You can still submit questions directly to the man by clicking on "Tony's Mailbag", see his live chat schedule (Monday the 19th by the way - 5PM PT), access his personal blog, and of course, access his video trainer tips.

The demand for this corner will take on a whole new dimension when we launch his two new products coming out: P90X+ and his wildly efficient Ten Minute Trainer programs, a program which I predict is going to single-handedly get more people fit than if Jack Lalanne and the Energizer Bunny had a love child.

Check out the new corner, and give the Tonester a shout out!

Let's Make Mickey A Coach

In case you were wondering if this obesity trend is for real, and whether it's time to stop looking for the next quick fix scam and to start choosing the kind of solutions we offer at Million Dollar Body and Beachbody, check this out: "It's A Fat World Afterall."

Louise Gold from our finance department forwarded this link to me which tells how society is getting so large, that we're "bottoming out" some of the rides at Disney's theme parks!

It's no laughing matter. Imagine the embarrassment a person would feel knowing they were responsible for hanging up an entire boat of sightseers. And you know when the obesity is that extreme, diabetes is not far off. It has to be an awful feeling physically and emotionally. And those are the exact complaints that drive Beachbody product development.

Imagine how excited that person might be to know there was a place where they could plug into legitimate programs that are proven to work that would gracefully help them lose the weight, with a diet plan that is simple, and a community that will help them stay with it when the going gets tough. MDB coaches represent the Beachbody tools that make a healthy choice a reality.

One thing is for sure, the timing could not be better for a business opportunity that truly contributes to the health of our society. Perhaps the "happiest place on earth" could also be the best place to recruit new customers and coaches!

This Is Not Your Father's Home Based Biz Opp

When we began paying commissions on sales of Beachbody products to our customers, with an incentive for them to bring in additional reps to spread the word, the only customer complaints pertained to the seedy reputation of other multi-level marketers as a "pyramid scheme".

That reputation is largely due to the millions of families who are still stuck with inventory of soap, pills, and water filters from business ventures of the past, and the pressure to effectively become the sales manager to your own friends and family members.
After just six months of operation, I can proudly say, we are none of any of that. We are promoters of health and fitness. And for the people who get in and get active with Million Dollar Body, the opportunity is anything but "traditional" network marketing, but with every bit of potential for financial reward.

Actually, I think I've probably offended more network marketers than we've signed up because of my convictions. (I sometimes speak my mind a little too freely. Ask me about the "Pyruvate Incident" sometime.) The reason we may not be immediately attractive to network marketing heavyweights is our commitment to making this home based business opportunity about getting people healthy and active - FOR REAL! That in itself is a multi-billion dollar opportunity if we stay focused on the real goal. The fact that I won't pitch the money potential first and the health benefits second makes me look foolish to those who have made their big bucks hawking business opportunities. The fact that we don't require people to invest thousands of dollars in inventory looks counter-intuitive to the folks who are used just to selling "the next hot breakthrough". But imagine how many millions of people who need a friend to lend them a hand in getting more active would appreciate something that could also earn them an extra income! THAT'S OPPORTUNITY with REAL substance!

And that's why this concept and the Beachbody faithful who are helping it grow are so special.
Exercise will NEVER go out of style. No drug can replace exercise. No electrical stimulation device can make it easier. If you want your body to work and feel good, you need to use it, or you will feel the consequences sooner than you expect. Eating right is simple. We show you how to achieve it. That has value to everyone around you. We are committed to helping people understand how to do it. That is the word we are spreading. Beachbody customer complaints generally stem from those who didn't have the support or accountability to stay with the program they purchased. Million Dollar Body changes all that by connecting people together in a "network" of support. That's the revolution that we're committed to creating here!
The miraculous stories of people who rediscover exercise and how their lives change because of it is the heart of what we do. The financial opportunity and how it has already helped people pay off their mortgages, pay for their kids school, or buy the car they always wanted are also incredible and meaningful. The two go hand in hand with what is so substantial about this opportunity.

The other day in a meeting I made a point about how I would pitch this if I could be a coach. I wouldn't whip out photos of the new car my commissions bought me, or the flat screen TV being installed at the house thanks to my rank advancements, I would show my before and after photos, and tell my friend that they can do it too if they make a simple "20 in 30" promise...
"I hear you complaining about your energy, about how your clothes fit, and how you don't like the way your body looks... If you want to change all that, I promise you, you can. And it can generate an income for you too. If you want to get results, I will help you; All you need to do is promise me two things: (1) Get started on something: Sign up, pick a program, and do at least 20 workouts in 30 days. And (2) Pass it on: Ask two people whose health you care about to do the same thing. That's it. If you don't see results in those 30 days, you can quit and get the money back for the product. But I know you will see results, and your life will change. And people will ask you if you're on a diet. And you'll tell them about this. And you will be in business. That's how easy things happen when you make that simple decision: Commit to at least 20 workouts in 30 days. All you need to do right now is stop thinking about it, and make those two promises to me: Get started, and pass it on."

Will some of our coaches make a lot of money by signing up, getting two more to sign up, and qualifying to help support our customers to get success? Absolutely. And some won't make a thing or care about it. They'll do it so they can feel the same thing I get to feel every day I get a success story email.

We're entering a period of very dramatic growth. The lead pool is going to accelerate in the next few months. The coaches who get in now and share our vision of helping people get healthy are the ones who deserve the financial rewards. The kind of coaches I want to help us build this will be a positive force of health and peer support, and they will reap the rewards. I don't care if you wear a tie (I don't), I don't care if you spend your money on toys or education, I don't care if you walk, jog, or crush P90X. All I care about is that you get healthy, and that you contact your coaches and customers from time to time to help them stay accountable to their plan as well.

You are the Beachbody elite, and together we're changing the state of health in this country!

THAT'S WHAT THIS IS ABOUT, AND I AM GRATEFUL TO THOSE WHO ARE STEPPING UP TO MAKE IT HAPPEN!

Coaching Means "Support"

One of the questions I get more often than any is whether you need to be a fitness expert or nutritionist to be a Million Dollar Body coach. The answer is neither! All you need to do is (1) do the workouts so you are a good example of what's possible and (2) help others to stay engaged in their goals to achieve a healthier lifestyle.

I got this great email from founding coach Anne Doval which really helps demonstrate how valuable the slightest nudge from an MDB coach can be, and how easy it can be to help someone make progress. Our coaches really are doing great things by supporting others!
==============================================================
Hey Carl,
Thanks for your time on the TeamMDB call tonight. I know you know that this is working, but here is just one example of someone I’ve emailed just once a month to check in…maybe offer a tip I’ve found in Tony’s mailbag... I never do anything amazing, I just check in with people. This particular customer only emailed me months ago, to see how to log in. I’ve had several emails just like this. Your coaching concept is making a difference.

>>ANNE!!! OMG so i've had these hip hop ab dvd's
sitting around my house (in the box they came in actually) for the LONGEST time and two nights ago i said let's try em.. I LOVE THEM!! i do them twice a day now and am already seeing results! it's so crazy! i wish i had started sooner! anyway thanks for keepin on top of me! Looking forward to hearing from you soon... Jen

>> I love the workout!!!! It is so much fun and time flies by so fast. I have been doing it consecutively for four days and I already feel lighter. Thank you so much for motivating me, I would never have done this without you.

>> “I shall stay in touch. Thank You SO Much! I'm sure this will make a huge difference in my life as well. It really makes a difference to have someone to "talk to" as well!”

Again, I’m not tooting my own horn here. I really honestly didn’t do anything other than just check in with them. It sounds like I’ve dispensed great tips and wisdom..alas.. All I did was say…"Hey, How are you doing?"

I wanted you to know that at least to some degree, more people are popping in their dvds who might not have otherwise.

Hammer and Bridge

Now you really get to peek behind the curtain. Click here and see Jason Scheff, lead singer of Chicago and Million Dollar Body Coach as he works on the music for the new p90X+ DVD's, due in December. Kind of cool to see a pro at work, a guy who lost 20 pounds with Power 90, I might add! You can sense from his perspective how intense these routines will be, and how enthusiastic he is about his contribution to make them great.

Here's a couple other moves to keep you wondering whether it will be a smart investment for you or not. The weights are Bowflex SelectTechs, the moves are h-a-r-d.

YOU Are The Solution!

I spent 24 hours this weekend at an event with great intentions called "The Big Task" weekend. It was put on by a true entrepreneur and networking genius named Keith Ferrazzi. Present were power players in health, wellness, and social media, like WebMD, iVillage, Kaiser Permante, AARP, Aetna, Scholastic, Microsoft, and others. The goal was to walk away with contacts with a common purpose of helping each other make progress in turning around health care and the trend of obesity in this country. I really respect everyone who went to the event. These are professional, quality people, with big hearts. They are looking at the massive pile of a problem, focusing on it, and brainstorming ideas to make a change.

But that's also the problem -- they were all focused on the problem, like driving on a slippery road with white knuckles on the steering wheel worrying about how everyone will avoid running into that telephone pole up ahead, rather than first slowing down to making sure each individual himself would stay on the road. The rally cries were brave and the quest was bold: "We must be warriors against declining state of health in the country," "Let's fight the bureaucracy", "Be a thorn in the side of the Presidential candidates so this issue gets attention." On and on it went, spinning our wheels, my wheels included.

As usual, the players were looking for a mass solution to the micro problem of the individual behavior that got us here. There was plenty of blame to go around. And the longer we talked, the more complex the whole situation sounded. It was all "How do we solve the problem for them" with talk of rewards programs, celebrity endorsements, and more task forces. As I drove home from the event, I realized we forgot to make a critical admission: Every human being in the room was a microcosm of the problem. We all created the problem. We are all LIVING the problem. There is no "them" in this. It is me. It is us. But we kept talking because it sounded right. Not a bad thing, just trying to push a massive mountain out of the way, when it seems all we really need to do is, each one of us wake up and walk around it, one at a time.

Later I signed onto WOWY for my workout, and like a breath of fresh air I met my 42 workout buddies. I read the exit messages from the real heroes who have taken control of their situations and are replacing the trend of obesity with their own trend of wellness, fitness, and a daily rush of endorphins. You guys are the hidden gems, the real energy behind a movement that will quietly, yet quickly get people moving and living a healthy lifestyle.

Here's a few examples of my 42 WOWY buddies, at 6PM on a Saturday night no less!

McDade in Washington
"Thanks for being there. Have a great night"

Wendy82 in California
"That was awesome! My fiance finally did it with me, about time, he's 5
days behind, and he's dying. I love it!!!"

pmtdunn in Indiana
"I NOW KNOW WHAT YOGA IS. THIS IS GREAT..."

Emilyr in Kentucky
"Keep Moving!!!!"

hunk2b in Arizona
"Done, now time to relax, have a great evening all!!"

lateboomer in Colorado
"Hang tough, y'all!"

Honestly -- you are all really amazing. You take the time to stop and cheer on people you have only met online. YOU are the solution. I wish the whole world could see you. I guess that's the point of Million Dollar Body anyway -- to encourage and reward you for spreading a positive message of action and peer support - first by living that message for real through your own action... MDB coaches don't just talk about change, you ARE change!

Thank you so much for helping us make a difference. This is all nothing without you! Thank YOU for being the real thing!

P90X+ Sneak Peek

These two previews show how the work is coming along on the five new P90X+ DVD's, due this December. Jason Scheff's music is mixing in very well, and the editing is tight!

Get your Beachbody Pull-Up Bar set-up, because this new one is fun! The "7-Point Pull-Up" from "Upper Body Plus"... Who said pull-ups couldn't be interesting?

A new move that will soon be a favorite, Tony created the "Gladiator" as part of "Kenpo Cardio Plus", a DVD which will take the concept of Kenpo and turns it up a few notches.

OctoberFit -- It's On!

I spent much of this morning on the phone talking to coaches, and I have to tell you, this is an absolutely phenomenal and elite group of people. Our coaches are change agents in a world that's like a "deer in the headlights" on this expanding obesity trend. You guys get it - and you are fixing it, one person at a time.

The focus of the coaches I have spoken with has not been on the money (although nobody has complained about the weekly check). Their focus is on the effect their role as coach is having on the people around them!

I spoke to a coach this morning named Robert Cohan in New York, who happened to also be a Ithaca College grad like me, coach Dick Comanzo, and our VP of Programming at MDB-TV, Scott Salik. (Go Bombers!) Robert has a great story of personal weight loss success that he is just now adding to his profile page. But to talk to him, and hear how he is helping the people around him get focused on eating right and working out is a inspiration of the value of being a coach.

When you step up and say "I am willing to help you get results and stay consistent", it matters to people who feel helpless. And Robert is proving that with the people he has recruited. That is something that a big company or a gym can't replicate -- only a peer can make that kind of impact on someone. And that is the impact our coaches are having on the people around them -- our coaches are literally saving the lives of people they care about.

To give you a sense of how your success can inspire others, look at how Robert found us: Robert learned about Beachbody and Million Dollar Body from MDB coaches Dawn Barca and Tony Barca. Their success has been featured in multiple infomercials and now they are showing talent as an inspirational force as well. People they meet see their energy and attitude and want some of that for themselves! And when that leads to a transformation, the ripple effect continues.

As I said to Robert, the key to helping people get that transformation is to get them to take their before photo, and then keep them accountable to taking their 30 day photo, and so on. When people see their own transformation, they wouldn't believe it if they didn't have the proof. And once you see results, there's no stopping you.

Inspiration goes beyond sharing success with peers though. I also spoke to Dawn today, and the most fulfilling part of that conversation was hearing the about how meaningful it is to her that her eleven year old daughter is growing up in a household that makes it a priority to live a healthier lifestyle. (As a father of a seven year old who still thinks ketchup is a vegetable, I feel the same way.) When people ask me what we are doing for the trend of childhood obesity, my answer is that the best way to get kids to live a healthier lifestyle is to help their parents lead a healthier lifestyle. And it's one of the most important by-products of being a coach. You are an example that it's a priority, and that it's possible to live this way and still have "a life".

Keep up the great work coaches! More updates later... Now I am on my way to Las Vegas to meet a roomful of great coaches and prospects as the OctoberFit recruiting drive continues!

"Phone Mommy... Carl somebody"

The week of October first has been dedicated as "OctoberFit" by the crew at Million Dollar Body. And with that in mind, I am intending to get on the phone and talk to customers, coaches and prospects for almost the entire week.

I know it's not as easy for people who don't live the Beachbody message every day to articulate it as it is for me. So for the entire week we're setting up two to four-person conference calls where I'm speaking directly to prospects. And in those calls I expect to describe how our community completely transcends what you expect when you hear the letters, "M. L. M."

Our network of coaches is about inspiring people through our own personal behavior -- "walking the talk" by staying active and eating right. We don't just sell pills and powders, we promote healthy living by showing it's possible. And our network supports our customers so they get the best results from the products and club they've purchased. The reason no other network has ever achieved success in fitness is no other network was founded by a group of people who had already succeeded by working out before. And our network of coaches is about motivating more people to spread the word, that exercise and eating right is not optional. That's how we motivate friends, family members, and kids that this is the way to get more out of life.

Our network of coaches is turning around the trend of obesity by BEING the solution, and that's helping them get lean, ripped, and healthy while they help others do the same. And that's why next week I'm getting on the phones to help our coaches spread the word.

If you're a coach and wold like to schedule a call, send an email (with some information about who you will have on the call so we can have a productive conversation) to OctoberFit@millionDollarBody.com and the OctoberFit team will see what call times are still left!

Looks Like "Ouchie"

You can definitely "feel" the plus in P90X+ in these two sneak peeks. The first move is the Fly Blaster and the second is the Push-Up Crunch. Both were designed to attack multiple body parts at one time, with an extra emphasis on the core.

You're gonna want to try the Push-Up Crunch as soon as you see it. But the look on Traci's face at the end of the Fly Blaster looks like "ouchie". Check 'em out! All 5 new DVD's should be available in December 2007!

Another P90X+ Sneak Peek

Two more peeks at the work in progress on P90X+. The Hindu Pike Push-up, and the L Pull-up!

And while you enjoy the angst of anticipation for the most intense workouts on the planet, relax in the satisfaction of knowing that we finally have additional inventory of Tony's Power Stands!

You'll Hate It So Much You'll Love It

I've gotten a lot of requests for information about the 5 new P90X+ routines we just shot.

Production was kind enough to send me some clips of the new moves which I'll post over the next few weeks while Jason Scheff (from the band Chicago) finishes the scoring and Mason Bendewald adds the detailed fitness cues.

Perfection takes time. We're looking at December 2007. But these routines are so intense that they will be just what you want to get reinvigorated with the New Year. Add the Bowflex Selectechs to P90X and P90X+ and you've got the most extreme home gym in the neighborhood!

Here's a peek in the meantime. BRING THIS!

TV, In Da Club

As promised, Beachbody's MDB Club has some great new features for members, plus the Million Dollar Body game just got a lot more interesting to track!

The programming team within MDB added trainer tips and cooking segments to the club. Now you can submit specific questions to the trainers and they can answer them with a true demonstration. What is the right way to throw a punch in a workout? How do you swing your leg through to runner's pose? What does "intensity" look like? How do you do a squat?

Danny Teeson adds his culinary expertise in the new ThinKitchen segments, where we launch our very own cooking shows to help you shop, cook, and eat in a way that supports your Beachbody goals. You don't have to eat fake, salty, mail order diet food when Danny's in the kitchen! The team even created a "Takeaway Tips" button so you can download the information to replicate the recipe easily. Great stuff!

And if you want to really see how the Million Dollar Body Game is stacking up with just three months of qualifiers left, within the game showcase there is a button to see the winners' progress as they compete for the $250,000 grand prizes!

As video and the internet converge, Beachbody and Million Dollar Body will be your channel for video motivation, information and entertainment all focused on living a healthier lifestyle. The point here is, it's a lot easier to make healthy choices when health is present in your mind. "You are what you think about". That's another of the benefits of being a coach. When you get a weekly check from Million Dollar Body, the concept of living a healthy lifestyle occupies a larger share of your mind, which makes healthy decisions easier, if not automatic.

So enjoy the videos in the club! This is TV that's good for you!

LABOR DAY CHALLENGE!

If you set out to continue your transformation this summer by participating in the Labor Day Swimsuit Challenge, it's time to send in your swimsuit photos! I'll be submitting mine to the team this weekend, so when I'm in WOWY next week, I hope to see how the rest of our group did!
But it's not just about the shape of the person in the swimsuit, it's about the health of the body in the swimsuit too. Case and point; My own brother and MDB Coach; David Daikeler. (pictured here, about a year ago, and below now in swimsuit!)
Despite his big brother (me) running a health and fitness company (or maybe because of it), David never ate a vegetable or a piece of fruit, or really even thought about the benefits of exercise. Fast food, candy, diet soda and cigarettes were on his daily menu. And you could tell.

That changed when he signed up to be a coach. The prospect that his income could grow substantially while he kept his "day job" and that he could have more energy and be a better role model for his young sons was the "killer app". And in the last twelve months David has attacked our programs in a way that makes me more proud of what we have achieved in Million Dollar Body than almost every other milestone. Seeing my own brother carve off over 38 pounds of fat and drop his cholesterol from 278 down to 189 could be one of the most rewarding success stories I've read.

Congrats bro... Way to be a "Labor Day Swimsuit" inspiration! (And please tell the rest of the family to eat healthy at the annual picnic!)

And I am looking forward to seeing as many new Labor Day swimsuit photos as possible in WOWY next week!

Power Blast and more!

In case you're wondering what it's like to be in a Tony Horton workout video, Beachbody success story and coach Perry Tinsely interviews Mark Briggs in his "Power Blast" podcast this week, where they'll talk about his appearance in the production of the upcoming P90X+ routines.
All I know is, watching these routines come together, Tony managed to organize moves that make P90X look like a beginners program. They're incredible, with original music composed by the band Chicago's lead singer, Jason Scheff. These routines will be unprecedented.

Pictured here with Tony, Traci Morrow and Mark, Mason Bendewald, the original director on the P90X workouts is back and cooler than ever with a goattee and putting the finishing touches on the new workouts while he also finishes up Tony's new Ten Minute Trainer programs, also due this fall.
Note: My wife just looked at the photo of Briggs from way across the room, and asked me "Is that Ghandi?"... Oh yeah it's Ghandi. It's Extreme Ghandi!... Extreme Ghandi+

What is Million Dollar Body?

A friend asked me to describe Million Dollar Body to him in 500 words or less. I don't think I hit the word count, but or anyone just tuning in, here's what I wrote:

What is Million Dollar Body?
Million Dollar Body (MDB) is Beachbody's revolutionary system to lose weight that combines fitness, portion control, and supplementation with remarkable motivation. That motivation comes from the income potential of representing to friends, family, and co-workers that this system works. You prove it works by being a success story yourself. There's the one two punch: Get a Beachbody program, and join the team to give yourself unprecedented motivation to succeed.

In the last 8 years, Beachbody has created a community of people who are turning around the trend of obesity by making sure that health and fitness is a regular part of their own lifestyles, and who are supporting each other to remain consistent. Our coaches are the elite of Beachbody, because they didn't just get inspired to lose weight to buy a product, but they saw it all the way through. And now they are going a step further, and helping others succeed as well.

As was found in the recent study, obesity is "socially contagious". That means it can be easier to become what you hang around with, whether it's obese, or lean. Our coaches harness the power of this community through our patented internet applications to make it easier to associate with like minded people to get results with any Beachbody product. The community is the thing, which makes it more convenient and less expensive to achieve real health. MDB is Beachbody's super motivation machine.

Every day, MDB gives away up to $1,000 to people who log their workouts in WOWY to show they are staying consistent. That motivation is free to everyone!

The Club:
For $2.99 a week, members get access to diet planning tools, celebrity trainers, coaching, newsletters, and other features that no other club offers, anywhere:

Special club features include:

> The Million Dollar Body Game: Members keep themselves motivated by entering their transformation stories in the Million Dollar Body Game each month. It hardly matters whether you win or not. What members get out of it, is an extra push to stick with it every day and every week so they can be personally proud of the progress they are making. The knowledge that you will enter your results no matter what they are is a remarkable personal motivator to watch your portions and increase your intensity. And that motivation is there every month through the game. The Million Dollar Body Game then chooses success story winners from men and women who entered in four age categories. The best two of the month get $10,000. The other six get $1,000. Everyone who wins is entered into the annual contest where the best of the year in each age group wins $50,000 -- and the very best male and best female success story of the year get $250,000!

> Club TV channels: This is the only place where TV is all about fitness, weight loss and wellness. Multiple channels in development feature programming featuring the community - where YOU are the star, plus exclusive video tips from our celebrity trainers, thin kitchen cooking shows, style segments (and from time to time some stupid stuff only I would think was worth the effort.)

> The Discount: Club members save 10% off all their purchases through the MDB website. Coaches save 25%.

> Support from Coaches: All members have access to a personal coach who's job is to make sure you know how to get the most out of the club, and to help you get the most out of every product you purchase. (That's how easy coaching is... and when someone on your team succeeds, you'll feel like a proud parent watching your kid graduating with honors)

The Coaches:
Coaches are our elite customers. They get it. The do it. And they help others. The best description of how I want coaches to look at coaching Beachbody customers is written in a blog post called The Three Keys. I know this is cheating, because that's a couple thousand extra words right there)

In short coaches should:
(1) Live the healthy Beachbody lifestyle
(2) Help support other people to live the healthy lifestyle
(3) Find other people who want to do #1, #2, and #3

Other coach benefits include:

- The benefit of income motivation to get them to keep consistent with their own transformation

- A fixed 25% discount off everything for sale at Million Dollar Body (which is most everything for sale at Beachbody)

- Early-bird release dates. Coaches have access to new Beachbody product first, and ALWAYS at the lowest price.

- "Emerald" coaches get assigned customers through our other Beachbody marketing activities, so they're really no selling required, only supporting and motivating.

- Coaches get $430 worth of our products for $199 if they buy the "Showcase pack" within 60 days of joining.

- Each month Coaches compete in the monthly "Top Coach" competition to qualify for a free trip to Hawaii to participate in the MDB leadership summit and commercial production. Top Coach is judged on product sales, coach recruitment, progress of their team, and participation in WOWY, etc.

- Coaches get commissions on their customer purchases, plus bonuses based on team volume

- Checks are paid WEEKLY!

The Products:
- Club members get 10% off everything at Million Dollar Body, Coaches get 25% off.

- These are the same products sold at Beachbody.com and on the company's TV advertising. Through member/coach discounts they are sold at the lowest prices anywhere.

- Emphasis is on consistency, so "Home Direct" delivery of supplements is recommended.

The point of all this, the club and the coach network is consistent success: Giving people the same body-transformation motivation which helped me get ripped for the first time in my life with Power 90 and P90X - because my business depended on my transformation. And in turn, we're building a network of support that is unprecedented.

That's what this is all about -- and if helping others and income motivation might help you succeed where other weight loss programs have not, check out Beachbody's at MillionDollarBody.com!

Obesity is "Socially Contagious" According to New England Journal Medicine Study

According to a study published in the New England Journal of Medicine, it turns out that hanging around people who don't workout and don't watch what they eat creates a higher likelihood that you would be obese...

Interesting news that actually supports what Beachbody and the Million Dollar Body community is all about... We could make a big deal about this for ourselves. We could celebrate this as incredible validation of the importance of belonging to our club and our community. And to a degree, this study is valuable to people who wonder why the club matters to so many thousands of customers.

But ultimately, it also can take your eye off the ball. Because we are not a product of environments as much as we are a product of our own choices, at the individual level. This study really underscores the importance of a person's own accountability to live in a way that enhances life with every decision. If you want an outcome that will serve your health and happiness, it is your responsibility to make certain choices. Your friends can sway your inclinations, but you are the person that chooses to "push play" or to eat portions that support your goals.

Don't want to be obese? You need to make choices that enhance your body's metabolism and ability to stay lean.

Want to have more energy? You need to make choices which enhance your ability to be energetic.

Want to live a life with less stress? You need to make choices which enhance your ability to stay relaxed.

I can remember in grade school when all the kids were investigate smoking. My choice not to participate helped me avoid that trap. I'm proud of that choice. It had nothing to do with my surroundings. It was my choice.

That doesn't mean I hit all the marks I want. I have a lot I want to improve and achieve. Whenever I get into the "blame game", frustrated by my own progress toward goals I've set, I spend time assessing and readdressing the achievement of my "dreams" and make sure I don't overlook the basic decisions that undermine my ability to achieve them. Usually there is ego involved in self-defeating decisions. But at the root of it, I don't need a study to help me blame something outside of my decisions for the outcome. I just need to look at my own decisions.

So, yes, it is exciting that there is a study validating that I will tend to create a life like the people I associate with. But at the end of the day, what REALLY matters is whether I am truly accountable to my own choices; and knowing that there are ALWAYS consequences from my choices. Whether we are fit or not, ultimately the people around us get neither the blame or the credit. The accountability is our own.

Malibu's Beachbody Beach House

Malibu has a new hot spot this summer, the Beachbody Beach House on famed "Billionaire's Beach"!

This is a little PR opportunity created to get the word out about Beachbody by Janna Rochelle. She makes sure that at each event, we showcase our products in front of the Malibu paparazzi while celebrities get a little sun.

If you want to follow the action, the best place to visit is the Beachbody Beach House page on MySpace. That's where Amanda, the Product Partners "PR Pixie," keeps all the latest events and media loaded so you can see who might be spotted next sitting on a Beachbody swiss ball.

(Hilary Duff - pictured here, was first!)

We've seen beach house mentions in US Weekly and all over the Internet, and for the rest of August we'll be having celeb workouts with our trainers which should make for some interesting media.

The fun part is watching the online videos and seeing if you can spot someone drinking a P90X Recovery Formula shake or reading the back of a Hip Hop Abs DVD inside the house in the background.

Swimsuit Challenge - One Month To Go!

One month left to prepare your body (and your photo) for the Labor Day swimsuit challenge! I hope you continue to give it your best -- eat smart portions, push play everyday, and are really going for it! Then around Labor Day, we want to see as many new swimsuit photos submitted as your WOWY image (click on "Other Tools" in WOWY and at the bottom there are directions to upload the new photo) to fill WOWY up with with summer success!

Yesterday, I got to speak to the crowd of 270+ at Chalene Johnson's Turbo Camp, and based on the workout schedule they had for the next couple days, I am certain there will be some rapid "Beachbody progress" from that group. It was great to see so many of our coaches and customers at the event. Based on what I've heard so far, I am certain we will add even more coaches from this enthusiastic crew and see some swimsuit challenge success stories!

While you're at the swimsuit challenge, it's worth noting that MySpacer and MDB Coach Joey started his own new challenge as of August 6th which is pretty cool. "The 300 Challenge". He's challenging his team to do what it takes between now through Oct. 31st to get their Halloween costume ready -- their own bodies!

If you saw the movie (or the poster for) "300", you've seen how the main wardrobe in that films was a ripped set of abs... So in the next 90 days, Joey and his team are focused on the healthiest (and perhaps least expensive) Halloween costumes ever. Great idea Joey! THAT'S GREAT COACHING!

But for now it's still about the swimsuit challenge -- so keep pushing play -- and send your photos soon!

American Inventor Judge Now A Million Dollar Body Coach!

The Million Dollar Body network has a new, high-octane celebrity coach: Pat Croce!

Pat was one of my heroes growing up. He used to be on the morning radio shows in Philadelphia as the motivation guy - inspiring people to greet each day with absolute enthusiasm for what they can achieve. Ask him how he's doing and he'll always respond with his signature "I'm GREAT!" To listen to him speak is to discover real human potential. This guy makes life look fun because that's the way he lives it.

I was lucky enough to meet Pat a few years ago through mutual friend Pete Albert, and we have stayed in touch since. The launch of Million Dollar Body happened to coincide with Pat's launch of his http://www.patcroce.com/ site, and he agreed that his brand of health and fitness motivation was a match with what we are creating at Million Dollar Body. So now, people who get turned on by Pat's way of embracing "the possible" of life have a great outlet to help them get healthy, get fit, and earn great money; Million Dollar Body!

Our core purpose at MDB parent Product Partners is to "Help people achieve their goals and enjoy a healthy fulfilling life." I've seen Pat live that in everything he does, from the companies he's built, to the books he's written, to his management of the NBA's Philadelphia 76ers, to shows he's appeared in like the current ABC network hit "American Inventor." He is a human achievement machine.

Pat was in LA to shoot American Inventor this week and we got together to talk about MDB. After the lunch he got up and said "All I needed was to sit across from you guys and see that you and this concept are for real. Let's blow this thing up!"

This is a real validation for me that we're creating something revolutionary here. Pat Croce doesn't do anything small time. As we count down to naming the first "Top Coach" of the month to come with us to Hawaii next year, and as weekly commission checks are growing week after week, I am certain that being an MDB coach will get more people healthy and help more people earn a substantial income than we have dared to forecast!

To give you a good sense of how perfect a fit Pat's approach to life is to Million Dollar Body, check out Pat Croce's 5 steps to a better life:
1. Pause each day to look in a mirror and give yourself a positive message. Focus on something you did well the previous day. “If you can start patting yourself on the back once a day — instead of kicking yourself in the butt — you’ll be amazed at how much better you feel.”

2. Keep a “victory journal” to list each day’s tiny triumphs. For example: If you vowed to avoid fatty foods and exercise today, and got it done, celebrate with a “victory moment” as you write down the deed.

3. Exercise vigorously for four hours a week. Split it up any way you want. “But I want you to spend half your exercise time on aerobic activity (jogging, brisk walking, swimming, racquetball, etc.) and the other half on strengthening activity (weightlifting, working out on exercise machines, etc.).” Get your doctor’s OK first.
4. Indulge yourself from time to time — then get back on track. If a bad day leaves you yearning for ice cream to fend off the blues, go ahead. “But before you go to bed that night,” adds Mr. Croce, “I want you to put an expiration date on that self-pitying behavior. And when you wake up the next morning, I want you to remember your goals and start working on them again.”

5. Accept that you can’t change your fitness or health overnight. “All I’m suggesting is that you do the little things that will slowly begin to improve your life. Walk briskly for 40 minutes a day. Put the cigarette back in the pack. Eat only half the food they serve you on that ‘super-size’ restaurant plate. Achieve these tiny triumphs one by one, and you’ll gradually transform your life!”

Welcome to the team Pat, and thanks for believing in the Million Dollar Body opportunity!

Upside Down Fitness

As a marketer, I like to think I can get inside the head of a prospective customer and understand the appeal of a product or service... but ever since I heard about strip aerobics and pole dancing workouts, I have been at a loss to understand the appeal.

Is it fitness? Is it voyeurism combined with exhibitionism? I really just don't get it.

If this were to be turned into a fitness DVD series, I suppose the eating plan would be a bowl of peanuts with a two drink minimum.

MDB-TV has arrived!

The Million Dollar Body TV team has broken exciting new ground this week. Vice President of programming, Scott Salik and his team launched the new MDB-TV game channel to make it easier for members to see and forward our MDB success story videos as we march our way into the second half of the year qualifiers for the big grand prize give away!

That means that as they add new videos, you can get automatic notification by email, on your iGoogle page, etc. so you never miss a game update. And as the competition enters the second half of the year, it will only get more exciting to watch who is making progress as each monthly winner competes for their share of $800,000 in success story grand prizes!

There is a lot about this player which is fantastic:
- You can now watch the videos full screen!
- You can now email the videos
- You can embed the videos in a blog or MySpace page
- MDB Coaches can send the videos to customers and prospects and the link will hold their coach information. That means when people start to get inspired by these incredible success stories and then decide to join the club – the coach will be hard-wired to that transaction and get the full 50% commission on club fees! Same goes when people who click through to purchase a product – the coach who sent the video gets the commission!

As we continue to celebrate the success of our customers who are getting fit and losing weight, the hope is that with your help, we’ll inspire people, and make it easier and more profitable for people to join to help coach those customers who "get it".

Million Dollar Body is gaining real momentum. This is an idea and a community whose time has come. We have more channels with new content that will be available to club members soon, like trainer tips from Tony, Chalene, Debbie, and Shaun T, plus cooking segments, and a bunch of videos for coaches plus some other purely fun stuff all set to launch throughout the summer.

Watch it grow at MDB-TV!

Celebrating 2 Million Hip Hop Abs DVD's

As you might recall, we made a promise to Shaun T that when we generated 500,000 orders or shipped two million DVD's of Hip Hop Abs, Jon and I would get mohawks. Well, last week we crossed the mark. Jon was lucky enough to be stuck in Hawaii, but promises to get his as soon as he returns.
Meantime, Shaun T did the honors in front of the entire company, with an assist from Hip Hop Abs success story, Chris Issoglio who lost 52 pounds and 39" with the program.

I think I finally found my look.
