Old Spice Stud Loves P90X®!

Take note young marketing professionals: Ground-breaking products that really work get PR without even trying. I continue to be shocked.

You’ve seen him in the shower, riding a horse, on a yacht and other exotic locales as the shirtless pitchman in the Emmy-nominated Old Spice body wash commercials. Guess how he got (and keeps) the body that has helped make him instantly recognizable?

P90X!

Isaiah Mustafa, the 36 year-old model, actor and former NFL wide receiver is everywhere lately - online, in print and on TV, including an appearance this week on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno. One of the questions everyone asks him is how he keeps his body looking so great. Thankfully, he isn’t shy about sharing his secret!

“I’m fortunate enough to work out with Tony Horton of P90X fame and he keeps me ripped,” Isaiah replied to Jay Leno’s question about his ripped bod. Isaiah then spent a healthy chunk of his precious couch time outlining the P90X nutrition plan that helps deliver such buzz-worthy results, impressing both Jay Leno and Eva Mendes.

Though he trains in person with Tony Horton twice a week, Isaiah has been a devoted P90X-er for over three years, adhering to the nutrition plan and intense total body workout that has helped him transform his body and his career. In addition to his Old Spice gig, he just landed a role in the upcoming film “Horrible Bosses,” starring Jennifer Aniston and Jason Bateman.

Maybe it takes a bottle of body wash to smell like him, but if you want to look like Isaiah, you gotta BRING IT

Shakeology® Certified Low Glycemic

You know about the awesomeness of Shakeology® – the ultra-premium health shake which my wife helped formulate when she saw that her husband couldn't eat a vegetable unless it was deep fried.

Now, in addition to enjoying it daily, we all get to brag about its most excellent score on the Glycemic Index Scale!

Shakeology® was recently tested and measured for it Glycemic Index (GI) and received the amazing score of 24 by Glycemic Index Laboratories.GI is a way to measure how carbohydrates react in your blood. When you eat carbs, your blood sugar level rises anywhere from a little to a lot. The GI uses a scale of 1 to 100, with higher numbers given to foods that cause the most rapid rise in blood sugar. These foods give a quick energy boost, often followed by a crash as your blood sugar drops rapidly, leaving you feeling sluggish, tired and even irritated.

The body needs carbs for fuel, but you need to feed it the right kind of carbs - ideally, foods found with a low rating on the Glycemic Index. Included on this list are whole grains, nuts, fruits, vegetables and, now confirmed... Shakeology.

Foods with a GI score of 55 or less are considered low on the Glycemic Index.

That’s why our rating of 24 on the Glycemic Index is so impressive. We are considered very low on the Index - lower, in fact than most fruits, some vegetables and virtually every processed food ever made. It’s even lower on the GI than an apple!

I get questions all the time about the sugar content in Shakeology – especially the fructose. Don’t confuse this with high-fructose corn syrup, which is a sugar substitute used in many processed foods and soft drinks. Fructose is a natural sugar found in fruits and some vegetables and is very low on the GI. We source natural non-GMO fructose to give Shakeology its great taste and also make its nutrition more bio-available (don't be impressed, I learned that word from my wife).

Did I mention that Shakeology low GI score means it’s also okay for diabetics? Well, it is! We hear from customers all the time who use Shakeology as part of their balanced diet to help maintain healthy blood sugar levels.

There are a lot of impressive numbers associated with this revolutionary product. 140 (the number of calories per serving). 70 (the number of healthy ingredients). And 24! (No, not the Jack Bauer 24.)

Book It, Nashville!

I am typing this blog entry from a fabulous Westin Dallas, at an amazing event here this weekend, and looking forward to the event next week in Hawaii. To register for the Hawaii event, click HERE. Hawaii Registration Web site

So what do we have to look forward to in Nashville and Hawaii?

More team building, more Game Plan training, more Team Beachbody, more Larry, more Craig, more MJ! These guys are motivating, hysterical, and filled with concepts that turn coaches into Star Diamond Coaches!

We don't make money putting these events on. It's an eye opening event, and will launch your team into action. (If you and your team show up!) And we make this investment in them to give you the opportunity to invest in your success.

Cool idea:

We set up a Facebook contest where people could invent new moves for Tony to feature in the P90X One on One series and perhaps in the upcoming P90X: MC2 program.

The entries are off the hook and awesome!

Now it's your turn to vote on the the move you want Tony to do - deadline to vote is July 25th! Click here to vote

Mr. Horton Goes To Washington

Photo: Brian Mosley, courtesy of The National Press Club

The gift of P90X keeps giving... This time it was in Washington D.C., where Tony Horton had the opportunity today to BRING IT to the National Press Club. He was invited to speak on the nation’s obesity epidemic and the physical fitness of our military forces in a style that only Tony has as viewers worldwide watched live on C-SPAN.

With Jon Congdon at his side to represent the company, Tony spoke about ending the trend of obesity, focusing on our country’s youth and applauded First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move Campaign, as well as the efforts of our military to incorporate a "Functional Fitness" approach. He took time to answer a few questions, before getting the members of the Washington National Press Club – all of whom were in full workout attire - to join Tony in a live P90X workout.

Good News (I guess)

I have some good news to share (which I wish wasn't even an issue):

We have made great strides in the last couple weeks on the anti-piracy front. Yesterday, a local woman involved in importing counterfeit Beachbody DVD's was convicted by a federal jury and faces 90 years in prison and fines of $12.5 million. Ouch!

Our legal team has been working with both the Office of the US Attorney and Immigration and Customs Enforcement in their efforts, and we are proud of the result.

Piracy is a very expensive problem, for more reasons than you can even imagine. You see, the people who think they are buying "legitimate goods for cheap" often encounter technical issues or just decide they want to get their money back. So then who do they call? They call Beachbody customer service. But there is no order with Beachbody. They still spend a half hour on the phone arguing with a rep who assures them there is no record of their order in the system, so no money to refund. Of course the customer complaint doesn't end there, because they are so sure they ordered from the company they seek support from the Better Business Bureau. Then we have a team that has to spend another few hours demonstrating the issue to the BBB. It's a never ending cycle that requires hundreds of dollars of resources for each complaint, and nobody wins, and well-intentioned people end up disliking the very company that wants to get them healthy.

Wishing the problem would go away hasn't worked, so now the efforts of our team and officials seems to be having an effect.

Here is a link to the press release: http://www.ice.gov/pi/nr/1007/100715losangeles.htm. (You will note that getting caught importing multiple container loads of counterfeit products is a bad idea, but then bribing an undercover agent to get the counterfeit and seized goods back is a VERY bad idea.)

This is just one of several criminal counterfeiting investigations that we are involved in with law enforcement (our anti-piracy team never rests! I mean really, they are on it constantly - right now even visiting with customs officials to make sure they can tell the source of good product from illegal product).

I hope these investigations and prosecutions only increase as we are in the midst of a nationwide effort to both provide anti-counterfeiting training to Customs officers and agents and increase the awareness of the importance of this issue for Beachbody through our Coaches and even meetings with Congress in Washington DC.

Remember – should you ever see something that you think is counterfeit or illegal (including any of our products for sale at a price lower than we offer it, just for example), please submit it so piracy@beachbody.com.

35 Doctors Don't Lie

When we launched Shakeology, we had broken every business rule in the nutrition-marketing book. In fact even within the company I was being told this product would probably never sell.

We put more and more active ingredients in it to maximize its health benefits without compromising benefit in order to cut costs. We made it taste great despite those complex and potent ingredients which are not easy to mask. We didn't add a single preservative or artificial sweetener. And we made sure the source of the product was top notch and that the maximum amount of nutrition that an ingredient could supply was preserved without the normal destruction in mass-production processing.

This was a real feat. Yet even today, people look at it and think "it's expensive".

That's because their context is based on the junk we have been taught is "passable" as a meal replacement. That's like saying a computer is expensive when your little calculator has been working fine for you. There just is no comparison (unless all you want to do is that which a calculator can do.)

Personally, I don't just need a primary source of protein in a shake. I am a-ok with protein! It's the vegetables and fruits, the fiber, digestive enzymes, antioxidants, prebiotics etc that I don't get enough of! And that's why Shakeology is best in class.

Compared to what little nutrition you get when you drink a canned meal replacement or spend as much as $6 - $10 for lunch or breakfast at a fast-food place, it's an incredible value!

Our entire organization was blown away when doctors began volunteering their support for this product. But it makes sense; They see patients all day long and beyond prescribing drugs, a doctor has very few alternative they can recommend to a patient to build their baseline of health. Until now. Shakeology is truly a game changer.

The following presentation is going to evolve as more doctors give us their comments. But after just it's first year on the market, Shakeology has over 35 doctors can be counted not just as fans, but ongoing users as well. You can see the complete comments and letters from these doctors on this page at Shakeology.com!

Thanks Jennifer Love Hewitt and PEOPLE!

Publicity like this happens to Beachbody and products like Leandro's Brazil Butt Lift without paying a PR firm because the products just plain work. (I wonder if Jennifer Love Hewitt wants to submit her photos and join us in Brazil! If not, how about you?

Thank you to Jennifer Love Hewitt and People!

Healthiest Dessert of The Day?

Fourth of July weekend can be a set-back for many people who worked all spring to get their body in summer-shape. Barbecues, pot-lucks (more like "bad lucks") and over-indulging at the beer cooler can add a few thousand calories to the weekend and less "Independence" from the stored fat than you want.

It's also a time that some people might not know how to introduce the Team Beachbody business without making things uncomfortable. So I say mix up a couple of batches of these two recipes, bring along some "Watch This" DVD's and Shakeology samplers, and you should be able to surprise yourself with the number of exposures you achieve.

I got these two ideas from Angie and Blake Warrington, two founding coaches from Boise, Idaho, (where they clearly know how to make health and fitness fun!)

Angie calls this her "Gooey Shakeology Oatmeal Bar"

3 cups Oatmeal
½ cup natural Peanut Butter (you know the one that is just ground up peanuts – no added sugar or oils)
1 cup Skim Milk
Dash Cinnamon
Splash of Vanilla
1 teaspoon unsweetened Coco Powder
4 scoops of Chocolate Shakeology
(Or you can break it up this way if it’s too intense in the Chocolate flavor
2 scoops Chocolate Shakeology and 2 scoops Beachbody Vanilla Protein Powder)

Directions
1. Mix all of the dry ingredients together first.
2. Mix in the skim milk and vanilla to blend all the flavors together.
3. Add the peanut butter last because that’s when things really get sticky
4. At this point remove any and all rings, wash your hands really good and get busy!
5. After all the ingredients are mixed together really good use a spatula to get the mixture into an 8x8 pan.
6. Press the mixture into that pan so that it lays flat. Use plastic wrap on top of the mixture to help make it easier to flatten.
7. Put it into the refrigerator for a few hours before you cut it into squares … and that’s it.

And here's Angie's "Healthiest Cocktail of the day"

Greenberry Shakeology

4 oz of water

4 oz of Malibu Rum

Ice

Blend, enjoy, and be prepared to answer questions!

P90X One-On-One

We've changed the name of “One on One with Tony Horton” to “P90X One on One” because the entire concept has been upgraded -- effective now!

We announced at Summit that Tony Horton was developing “P90neXt”, a whole new series of 12 P90X DVD’s created to keep the Muscle Confusion going after you master the original P90X. Tony is developing the programs with new experts, new moves and a whole new level of results. And for the first time ever, One-On-One subscribers get to try them first as Tony puts it all together.

When it’s all done, it will be called P90X: MC2™, but for now, it’s between you and Tony to work out the kinks, one-on-one style. And customers who subscribe to the entire twelve months will get a special offer and be first in line to get the official P90X: MC2™ program when it is released!
