30,000 Coaches = 150,000 Celebrations
Last week, we pledged that as soon as we hit this milestone, we'd donate $5 for each coach on the team, $150,000 to Raincatcher.org to help provide clean, safe drinking water to people in crisis. I am meeting with the folks at Raincatcher this week and will hand them the hefty check.
But we're not done: Here's how YOU can help... For every active Coach as of December 31, 2010, we will donate an additional $5 to Raincatcher.org! Just by growing your business, you can touch - and save - lives both here and around the world!
Get out there and connect with people. Build your business and not only will you be helping end the trend of obesity and helping others on their journey toward improved fitness and financial independence, you will be helping provide clean, safe drinking water to hundreds of thousands of people who desperately need it.
"We shall not finally defeat AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria, or any of the other infectious diseases that plague the developing world until we have also won the battle for safe drinking water," says Kofi Annan, United Nations Secretary-General.
The clean water crisis is real. People, especially children, are in dire need of safe, clean water and we are committed to helping give it to them. Now you save lives simply by doing what you already do. Every new Coach you sign up makes a difference. $1 provides 1 person with clean drinking water for an entire year, so think of what $5 for every active Coach will do!
Thank you for your amazing work in helping us reach this milestone. I look forward to the next one, and the next! You inspire me!

What Economic Downturn?
This email is juts another example that, the concept of using your own income potential as the motivation to get healthy in fit is for real. I hope more coaches see it that way - especially those who feel like the business is not yet serving them. in my experience, that usually means they haven't embraced the authenticity of the comprehensive approach to this lifestyle. Your example of health and fitness is what inspires people to believe that you are not selling them products, you are simply an example of what works.
Thanks Judy, and thanks to all our coaches who are spreading the word that Beachbody is the total solution! You are the ones who will enjoy the income in 2009 when this concept reaches its tipping point! Let the new Year's resolution rush begin!
================================================
Hi Carl. Well, today is the day that most people are thinking about 2009 and changes they would like to see in their lives. I can’t help but reflect back on my journey the past two years. At the end of 2006, I had reached a point where I just HAD to make a change. I’ve never been severely overweight, but I had around 15-20 pounds that plagued me ever since my daughter was born in 1997. Sure, I knew how to lose the weight. I did it SEVERAL times. What I didn’t know was how to make it STICK!
So, heading into 2007, I was looking for solutions. First I looked at what had worked in the past for me. The first thing that came to mind was the Beachbody message boards. When I’m reading and posting on a regular basis, I find that I’m more motivated to work out and eat right. So, I reconnected with some Beachbody friends, and started logging my workouts into WOWY. But, I had done all of that before, and had STILL lost focus. I needed more.
Then one day, I was reading your blog entries from December of 2006. The title was “The Miracle CEO Weight Loss System”. You had stayed consistent with your fitness program because now you were the CEO of a fitness company, and you were now offering that opportunity to all of us. This intrigued me, so I asked my coach (Traci Morrow) a few questions and decided to give it a try! I started my business with only my own accountability as my goal.
What an interesting two years it has been. I lost 20 pounds, and haven’t gained back more than a few pounds at a time. I work out consistently, and I’m constantly learning new ways to incorporate healthy habits into my lifestyle. So, your idea that this could work for anyone has certainly been true for me. As I’m encouraging the people I coach, it encourages me. I get so much more from these new friends than they will ever know. That alone would make it SO worth it, but the icing on the cake is that I’m able to make enough money to more than cover my mortgage each month! I got laid off from a job I worked at for over 20 years, so you have no idea how much it means to have at least that one bill covered.
For the first time in a long time, I’m ending the year excited about what I’ve accomplished and doubly excited for what is to come!!! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for this opportunity!

Inspiration to Set Your Goal Now!

And by the way, I really want to thank you for a great 2008.
Whether you're a Beachbody Coach, a member of Team Beachbody, or a Beachbody customer, I want to thank you for your support, your enthusiasm, and commitment.
And we're proving that with the ChaLEAN Extreme Launch Party kick off Saturday, January 3rd. Coaches across the country are inviting people to their homes to kick off the New Year's Resolution season. At those parties and for months to come, Coaches and members will be inviting people to kick off a flight of ChaLEAN Extreme and surpassing the results they've achieved in gyms or with equipment by supporting each other through the process.
You can see where parties are happening right here at party central and track the action including footage and photos from coach house parties plus Chalene's launch party at her house here at the message boards!
No matter what you do to celebrate the new year and set an objective for yourself to achieve real exercise consistency in 2009, know that this CEO truly appreciates how you have taken responsibility for your health and fitness - no matter what stage of it you are in - and that together we can achieve so much in 2009! I'm going to go for 240 workouts, all logged into WOWY with a red X (That means I log the workout as I do it, rather than a blue X, which gets logged in later.)
Happy New Year. Post some great ChaLEAN Extreme Launch Party photos Saturday, and let's go for it in 2009!

Manic Monday and Premier Tuesday
I have cleared my schedule for rallying the community and helping coaches!
1. I'll start the day with an "all-call" WOWY workout at 9AM ET/6AM PT. If you can be there, let's sweat! And invite everyone you can because the WOWY prize for Monday the 4th will be $1,000. So it's even more worthwhile to workout and get people signed-up to workout on the 4th!
2. The rest of the day Monday I will be at my desk jumping on calls with ANY coach who wants a "CEO-assist" to describe the Beachbody Coach opportunity. You can make an appointment for a 5-10 minute call between 11AM ET/8AM PT and 10PM ET/7PM PT by going to this sign-up tool and giving me a couple time options. Or if you don't know when you will have a prospect, you can just do your best to talk it up as often as possible Monday, and when you find someone with the right kind of desire and intent who recognizes the power of this opportunity, take the chance that the phone will be open and call me at 1(800) 806-0991 (The line will be live on Monday only). Kevin Sherman will be in stand-by to pick up any over-flow.
TUESDAY
1. We'll do another "all-call" WOWY workout Tuesday August, 5th at 9AM ET/6AM PT
2. Then Tuesday night we hope every coach and their prospects will log into our brand new opportunity webinar which will help you and your customers find the desire to succeed. That will happen at the normal 9PM ET/6PM PT and run about 20 minutes. You can start inviting prospects to the webinar so we have a packed house.
Let's Fire Up The Back-Office!
What I hope will happen right now is that you will use the coach online office email tools to communicate with your customers and coaches. Tell them about the two WOWY events and to look into your back office to see which of your customers might be inclined to step up and become a coach if we got on the phone with them together on Monday or to tune into the opportunity webinar premier on Tuesday.
Let's heat up your desire to bring in the next wave of people who will help us carry this message of health and prosperity out there. People are hurting physically and financially. They are out of shape, and have forgotten what it feels like to feel good. For anyone who wants control of their health and earning potential, it's time to take action with a system that's proven.
I look forward to an exciting couple of days of productivity with your help and courage to get the word out!

The NEXT One-on-One?
The release of "One on One workouts" with Tony Horton.
If you want to see Tony at his best, most intense, and least scripted, you've got to subscribe to the One-on-One workouts.
What happens is, every so often Tony calls up his buddy Mason Bendewald (director of P90X, etc.) and says "Mace, I just got a bunch of new rock and roll from Jason*, and I came up with a killer routine. Get your butt over here and let's shoot it."
Mason walks in, rolls camera, and Tony goes into "Bring It" mode, one-on-one style. It's intense, with a new one released each month.
If you're a member of TeamBeachbody.com, subscribe online asap so you make sure to get the very first workout, Plyo Legs. (non-members can purchase here... but why wouldn't you want to be a member of the coolest fitness community on the planet?)
And for all 5 people who read this blog, here is the first ever sneak peak at the next routine just created to ship for month two (August). They're all going to be classics!
Who says you can't push the boundaries? Honestly... this job is getting more fun by the week!

When Sharing the Beachbody Opportunity, "No thanks" means "Not yet"
> Over 100 million people in this country are obese.
> Another 100 million are overweight.
> Deaths related to obesity are the #2 killer in the US, and soon to achieve the distinction of #1.
So when a Beachbody Coach offers to help someone who is not involved in a fitness and nutrition program and they say "No", I think they're really saying "Not yet."
The challenge is to turn "Not yet" into "Now".
Beachbody Coaches are so resilient in their crusade to help people. They do their workouts. They plan their food and supplement strategies. And they share the message with someone every day: "I am experiencing how health is achieved. When you're ready I'll help you."
Someone can say "no" or "not yet" to that, but as life passes them by because they lack the strength, energy or perhaps confidence to really live, at some point that person will realize that the solution already presented itself in that invitation from their coach.
What has been missing from every other program they ever tried was the combination of a good fitness and food plan with the support to stay with it. When they remember the helpful coach who offered to help them that "no" turns into "now".
The other day I was on a phone call where an experienced network marketer was telling me that you need the "best salespeople to succeed" because the priority has to be making money - that's the driver to network marketing.
When it comes to Beachbody, I had to respectfully disagree. Salesmanship is what you need to sell a product one time. Sell one person one thing, move on to the next. Beachbody is not about salesmanship, it is about creating relationships by caring enough about people and their potential for a better life. And when you combine the truth about health and fitness with enthusiasm, you create that relationship, and sales... All because you care. Our coaches create lasting relationships that are productive, healthy and profitable.
Earning an income is not evil. It is an important motivator - in fact it's the motivation that got me into the best shape of my life. If I didn't think my photos would be valuable to the launch of Power 90 and P90X, I would have never pushed it so hard to get those results. That motivation got me healthy. Creating the Coach network is my attempt to see if people want to tap into that same money motivation that I had. "Become a walking billboard for what's possible, be there to help them succeed, and they'll want to buy some of what you've got!"
When it comes to sharing this system of exercise, good nutrition and peer support, what makes me comfortable to write about it in this blog and share this system with anyone I speak to is the fact that I KNOW WITH 100% CONVICTION that what we offer is the fastest path to a long-term healthy lifestyle on the market. Better than all the diet books combined. Better than gastric bypass surgery. Better than whatever cleanse is popular this summer. Less expensive and more efficient than equipment and gym memberships alone. This program works and it's healthy. And I want as many people as possible to tap into it.
I get so worked up when I realize that these crazy DVD's and simple food programs really will solve this obesity trend within five years. And it's all thanks to the community of people with the biggest heart you could find. That's how this is so different than the other MLM's - this is people helping people, not people selling juice.
If you are interested in helping people, and you wonder if you need to learn how to sell to be a Beachbody Coach, all I ask is that you show people you care, and the business will grow. And here's another tip: You don't need to find people who can sell to help you build your business. You need to find people who have the courage to show they care as much as you do.
Care like that this week, and if someone who listens to you talk about this thing called Beachbody and the power of "Play, Shake & Share" says "no thanks," hear it as "not yet". Because one day when they're ready to achieve their transformation, you'll still be there for them, and "not yet" becomes "now!"
That's how we'll grow to a force of one million caring coaches, and that's how we'll help over 100 million people make health and fitness a priority in their lives.
To every Beachbody Coach, know that every day, and every conversation matters... because every person matters. YOU HAVE THE SOLUTION!

Better Than A New Car!
One such coach, Alan Cottrell, started his own WOWY group filled with family, friends and neighbors. He has earned just $177 over the past year. But he's in it for the health benefits he gets and the good feeling of helping people.
My sister Robin makes a hundred dollars here and there as a coach, but is not into recruiting coaches. She has told me she does it just to be part of a healthy group of people, that it keeps her motivated.
I've also gotten to know a coach through MySpace named Angie Cyr. She wrote me the other day and described all the stuff going on her life, which any of us would find it hard to get through, much less also stay focused on fitness and coaching. She has her reasons, as she writes:
Carl -- People always ask me why I've got such a great attitude when so much “stuff” is going on in my life. (My mom and dad live with me and they are sick; Mom physically - a lot - and Dad mentally - getting worse by the minute; My youngest son has had some sort of ailment for the last 5 years that gets him violently ill throughout the year; 5 of those times ending up in the hospital and 2 of those hospital visits have been in the ICU.)
So how am I able to deal with all of this and still be a Beachbody coach while not going insane? Easy: Beachbody has given me the tools I need to keep the stress level down. If it were not for my Beachbody friends, exercise and healthy eating, being a Beachbody coach and helping others with their issues, I would be a basket case.
As a coach, helping others helps keep me from focusing just on my problems. I love being a coach because not only do I get to help others, but I help myself as well. The stress is still there in my life, but thanks to Beachbody I can handle the stress. (Oh, by the way, I also just started a health and fitness ministry at church!)
Angie Cyr
PS: BTW, I first became a coach in order to get a discount on the products I love. (I have EVERY DARN WORKOUT IN THE BEACHBODY STORE!) But I became an Emerald after my success story aired (I was a Sept. 2007 $1,000 winner in the monthly contest) and people started emailing me to tell me what an inspiration I was.I realized I could really make a difference in someone's life and that excited me. I love getting those touching emails!
PSS: I also head up a message board called Get Ready For Summer Challenge. There are a couple of rules and one of them is they must contact their coach once a week!

The Aftermath
=========================================
Hey Carl. I wanted to say a huge thank you for putting together the fantastic 2 day coaching summit in Anaheim. In case you're wondering, it's Brit Boy, the strange speaking English dude who sounds a little like Danny Teeson, but not as funny ;)
To get to chat with such inspirational people such as Mark Briggs, The French's, Traci Morrow, and Perry Tinsley about this wonderful community makes me feel extremely fortunate to have found BB. What a club! What a 2 days in Anaheim!!
Jason Scheff is coming to Vegas, where I live, in 3 weeks and suggested me and him work out at the MGM! Can you believe that?? The lead singer of Chicago wants a work out buddy??? Holy cow!
I signed up finally as a coach after Anaheim, not because the potential financial rewards sounded so appealing but for the desire to help others better themselves. That is reward enough but if you want to pay us also then who am I to complain! ;)
The event at The Grove was mind blowing and I wouldn't like to be in your shoes when next years bill comes around!!!
Cheers Carl.
Mike (Brit Boy)

I just wanted to say THANK YOU for the amazing work that Beachbody is doing and for the excellent things that are coming up for all of us. It is a true blessing to be a part of a company that really cares about people and wants to see people transform their lives both physically and financially. This is SO much bigger than any one person - it's all about being a walking billboard for health and wellness, and bringing others along for the journey. Your "BIG WHY" has fueled ALL of us who came to Anaheim this weekend, and for that, we send SO MUCH LOVE AND BLESSINGS to you and your family. (Proverbs 11:24-25)
Personally, this meeting set me on FIRE, and I am ready to take Birmingham, Alabama by STORM!! Be on the lookout.... ;)
Thanks again, and we love you all so much!! Send love to all of the staff, too (they were so great)!!!
Clarissa (misscmac)
=============================================
Hey Carl - it's Mason B. GREAT EVENT bro! Nice work. I'm glad I was there to get a better idea of what it's all about. Here's something from my thread I thought you'd enjoy:
What truly motivated about the summit was not the speeches, not the workouts, it was the people. From the Beach Body staff who opened doors for us, to the faces like Carl, Jon, Tony, Mason, Jason & others, and also our team members like Mark, Traci & Jay who shared their success stories to the whole group you all were and are truly inspirational and transforming. Together we all can start a worldwide revolution as Carl shared with us, and that revolution begins with us.We are the X+X Fanatics - BRING IT!
TroyD
======================================================
Carl,
I know that you've gotten a lot of emails regarding the coach's summit, but I didn't want that to prevent me from telling you my thoughts. There are too many times that people complain about things, and not enough times when they pass on praise. Well, relax...I'm passing on the praise this time!;-) That Summit was TOP NOTCH!!! I left for California still a bit skeptical about coaching. I wanted it to be a good opportunity, and I thought it was a good opportunity. I came home absolutely convinced that it's not just a good opportunity, but THE opportunity of my lifetime. I think that only some people get the chance to be in on something huge from the very beginning. Those moments only come around once or twice...if that... in a lifetime. I've heard people describe this like being in on Starbucks before they became big, and now I know what that means. I feel it deep down in my soul that this is going to take off, and I'm SO grateful that I'm along for the ride! Now, when I approach my family, I'm going to tell them that I'm doing this with or without them, and I don't want them to come back to me in a year and say "Why didn't you tell me about this a year ago?" :D
My reasons?
1) To wake up every day excited to be doing something that I absolutely LOVE to do.
2) To be able to plan a vacation or make some other type of big purchase without thinking "Can I afford that"?
3) To be able to build a new house if we decide to do that or to remodel this one to be our dream house.
4) To bless my family, friends, and future friends with a healthy and financially free lifestyle.
5) To be able to give more away to charity. I'd love to be able to donate enough to drill a water well in Africa and travel there to watch them start it up!
6) To get to hang out with more people like those I met last weekend. I have NEVER been around a group of people who are happier, more interesting, and full of life!!!
So basically, this about tapping into this opportunity to bless my life so much that it overflows and blesses everyone around me! Thank you SO MUCH for allowing us all to be a part of this. It was something that you said in your blog in December 2006 that got me into this. I was looking for a way to stay committed to my own fitness program, and you said "I didn't get into shape and stay there until I owned a fitness company. This is an opportunity for our customers to have the same opportunity."
I got into this as a way to stay committed to my own fitness (which has worked beautifully by the way... I've maintained my college weight of 120 even through the holidays), but it has grown to be so much more over this past year. Milan said to me right in the beginning that this was more about the person we are becoming. Well, I really like the me that I've become in this past year, and I have a feeling I'm going to REALLY like the me next year that will be headed off to the top coach celebration with you! ;-)

Let's Make Mickey A Coach
Louise Gold from our finance department forwarded this link to me which tells how society is getting so large, that we're "bottoming out" some of the rides at Disney's theme parks!
It's no laughing matter. Imagine the embarrassment a person would feel knowing they were responsible for hanging up an entire boat of sightseers. And you know when the obesity is that extreme, diabetes is not far off. It has to be an awful feeling physically and emotionally. And those are the exact complaints that drive Beachbody product development.
Imagine how excited that person might be to know there was a place where they could plug into legitimate programs that are proven to work that would gracefully help them lose the weight, with a diet plan that is simple, and a community that will help them stay with it when the going gets tough. MDB coaches represent the Beachbody tools that make a healthy choice a reality.
One thing is for sure, the timing could not be better for a business opportunity that truly contributes to the health of our society. Perhaps the "happiest place on earth" could also be the best place to recruit new customers and coaches!

This Is Not Your Father's Home Based Biz Opp
When we began paying commissions on sales of Beachbody products to our customers, with an incentive for them to bring in additional reps to spread the word, the only customer complaints pertained to the seedy reputation of other multi-level marketers as a "pyramid scheme".That reputation is largely due to the millions of families who are still stuck with inventory of soap, pills, and water filters from business ventures of the past, and the pressure to effectively become the sales manager to your own friends and family members.
"I hear you complaining about your energy, about how your clothes fit, and how you don't like the way your body looks... If you want to change all that, I promise you, you can. And it can generate an income for you too. If you want to get results, I will help you; All you need to do is promise me two things: (1) Get started on something: Sign up, pick a program, and do at least 20 workouts in 30 days. And (2) Pass it on: Ask two people whose health you care about to do the same thing. That's it. If you don't see results in those 30 days, you can quit and get the money back for the product. But I know you will see results, and your life will change. And people will ask you if you're on a diet. And you'll tell them about this. And you will be in business. That's how easy things happen when you make that simple decision: Commit to at least 20 workouts in 30 days. All you need to do right now is stop thinking about it, and make those two promises to me: Get started, and pass it on."
Will some of our coaches make a lot of money by signing up, getting two more to sign up, and qualifying to help support our customers to get success? Absolutely. And some won't make a thing or care about it. They'll do it so they can feel the same thing I get to feel every day I get a success story email.
We're entering a period of very dramatic growth. The lead pool is going to accelerate in the next few months. The coaches who get in now and share our vision of helping people get healthy are the ones who deserve the financial rewards. The kind of coaches I want to help us build this will be a positive force of health and peer support, and they will reap the rewards. I don't care if you wear a tie (I don't), I don't care if you spend your money on toys or education, I don't care if you walk, jog, or crush P90X. All I care about is that you get healthy, and that you contact your coaches and customers from time to time to help them stay accountable to their plan as well.
You are the Beachbody elite, and together we're changing the state of health in this country!
THAT'S WHAT THIS IS ABOUT, AND I AM GRATEFUL TO THOSE WHO ARE STEPPING UP TO MAKE IT HAPPEN!
